Krogan Weapons Master – by Slininstien

Build Title:
Krogan Weapons Master – by Slininstien

Class:
Krogan Soldier

Power Evolutions:
Fortification: Durability(4) Power Synergy(5) Power Recharge(6)
Carnage:Damage(4) Recharge Speed(5) Armor Damage(6)
Inferno Grenade: Damage(4) Max Grenades(5) Armor Damage(6)
Krogan Berserker: Weapon Damage(4) Power Damage(5) Shotguns(6)
Rage: N/A

Weapons:
Any shotgun is an acceptable gun, I prefer the Claymore because it really packs a punch that no other shotgun can.
Attachment: Shotgun Spare Thermal Clip V and the Shotgun Shredder Mod V. If you Claymore is below level 8, I do suggest putting the damage attachment on to max it out. If you are curious to know why I chose the Shredder mod is because of phantoms and you can kill 2 guardians in 1 shot through the shield. Also, the shredder mod allows you to shoot the health of the phantom instead of the barriers at time, which means, one shot killing phantoms when you get a headshot.

If you do not like the claymore the geth plasma shotgun is a quick and easy switch.

Strategy:
Using your powers: As you can see, this build really focus’s on killing armored targets which is why i suggest facing reapers with this class. The class is much much better if you have a high level claymore( mine is at IX and I get a 95% recharge). The basic idea of this class is to use carnage whenever any enemy is at a far distance. The damage is massive and every enemy you can face has someone with armor you can destroy. Once the enemy does get close use the claymore/carnage combo. I HIGHLY suggest using the carnage to cut the reload speed of the claymore down with the reload trick. I do not enjoy Rage because everyone knows at wave 9, nobody want to see you running around trying to get rage on geth hunter. So, when times get sticky simply turn on fortification. Every time there was a recharge possibility I chose it because nobody wants the recharge speed to be suddenly 7 seconds instead of 2-3 in a sticky situation. Finally, inferno grenades are a good way to do massive DPS. The damage DOES stack, so throwing all of them at an enemy can potentially do over 400 damage per second.

Fighting the enemy:

Cerberus: Cerberus will the the trickiest team to face for the guy only because of the phantoms. You’ll need an adpet with you if you do encounter these guys but you should be fine. your claymore is a 2 shot kill to any enemy on the field and your carnage and grenades are set up to shred the armor of an Atlas, so watch out for the phantoms, but just spam the heck out of your carnage when there is someone at a distance and claymore it up when they are close.

Geth: The only trick that the geth with ever have with this build or any krogan is the amount of damage they will be able to deal up close. Again, I suggest having an adept nearby to freeze the hunters so you can carnage the pyros and prime without worry. STAY IN COVER against the geth. All of the geth actually have good weapons, unlike cerberus. Fortification may need to be on full time depending on you teams skill level. If you do ever get into a spot where hunters and pyro have you surrounded, detonate your fortification which stuns the enemy for a second and run as far away as possible.

Reapers: This is the enemy you will be excited to see (for once). Everything is set up to shred armor which every major enemy has. Like I’ve been saying over and over, use carnage like it is your long distance weapon. The special thing about using this class on reapers is that when you finally get that barrier down on the banshee, an inferno grenade will keep the barrier from recharging for a little while while you may go an get more ammo or recharge you shields. Reapers are the enemy that will allow you to have any other team mates their hearts desire and the only thing you have to care about is the pesky husks.

N00b Rating: (scale 1-5, 1 is easy for everybody!)
2.5. I’d give it a 2.5 because the necessary cover, the knowledge to do the quick reload, and the claymore is a 1 shot but devastating shotgun so lower levels will struggle in the use of staying alive with such a close range gun.

Don Karnage – by Vorpal Sword

Build Title:
Don Karnage – by Vorpal Sword

Class:
Krogan Soldier

Power Evolutions:
Fortification: Durability (4), Power Synergy (5), Power Recharge (6)
Carnage: Damage (4), Recharge Speed (5), Damage (6)
Inferno Grenade: (1), (2), (3)
Krogan Berserker: Damage & Capacity (4), Power Damage (5)
Fitness: Durability (4), Shield Recharge (5), Fitness Expert (6)

Weapons:
The main consideration is to keep your cooldown as close to 200% as possible. That means choosing a single light weapon that’s flexible enough for multiple tactical situations, rather than the sniper/shotgun combo that’s popular with other soldier builds. The Avenger X is an obvious choice, and it’s easy to upgrade; take some combination of Magazine Upgrade, Extended Barrel, and Armor Penetration. The Geth Pulse Rifle and Phaeston are also good options, if you want either better accuracy or better damage than the Avenger offers. Taking a fully automatic assault rifle has the additional benefit of allowing you to reliably apply the effects of Incendiary, Cryo, or Disruptor ammo to your target, all of which which can be detonated by Carnage.

The build is fairly flexible, however. For those who prefer headshots to aiming for the center of mass, the Mattock, Raptor, and Carnifex are all good choices. While I wouldn’t personally recommend taking a shotgun, they definitely fit the theme, and you can get away with using an upgraded Katana, Eviscerator, or Disciple. (Take a Smart Choke, to keep your range as long as possible.)

Strategy:
This build is designed to take advantage of Carnage, which is often underestimated. Properly upgraded, it’s one of the most efficient direct-damage powers in the game. Although it’s not mentioned in the tooltip, Carnage also has enough physical force to stagger most human-scale enemies, and a small damage-over-time effect (I can’t verify this, but I’ve seen multiple people quote it as 25% of the initial damage over 2 seconds). At long range, some enemies will dodge it–but the dodge animation is long and predictable, and with practice it’s a good setup for a headshot. At medium range it’s nearly guaranteed damage, and at close range it’s better than most shotguns. It finds your enemies behind cover, it ignores armor DR, and it triggers elemental and tech bursts (particularly nice if you’re teamed with someone who uses Overload or Energy Drain). You’ll never have the DPS of Warp/Throw detonation spam, but your damage burst is front-loaded (rather than occurring two seconds after you see something that needs to die), your weapon choice is flexible, and you can take far more punishment than any asari “commando”.

Fortunately or unfortunately, this is a one-dimensional power-spam build. The idea is to turn Fortification on as soon as you deploy, and leave it on: it makes you tougher, and it actually increases your DPS in this build. Then spam Carnage against anything you see, and fill the cooldown with bullets. Grenades are in the build as a quick boost to DPR when you see two or three enemies coming down a corridor toward you, and you have enough passive damage upgrades to make your grenades hurt when they land.

As a final note, you have 1600 shields and consistent 20% DR, which makes you one of the toughest characters in the game. On Gold difficulty, that doesn’t mean much, because a pair of Geth Primes will still chew you up and leave you on the ground wishing you’d never left Tuchanka. Play smart: take cover whenever you can, and if you get swarmed, don’t be reluctant to fall back.

Noob Rating: (scale 1-5, 1 is easy for everybody!)
2. The hardest thing about this build is unlocking it.

Krogan Gunslinger – by CobraKingKiller

Build Title:

Krogan Gunslinger – by CobraKingKiller

Class:

Krogan Soldier

Power Evolutions:

Fortification: Durability (4), Recharge Speed (5), Durability (6)
Carnage: N/A
Inferno Grenades: Radius(4), Damage(5), Radius and Shrapnel(6)
Krogan Berserker: Weapon Damage (4), Headshots (5), Weapon Damage (6)
Rage: Durability (4), Shield Recharge (5), Fitness Expert (6)

Weapons:
Equip any two weapons you wish.  Weight is not an issue, since this build does not depend on combat power usage at all, so consider choosing something big and heavy-hitting, just like any self-respecting Krogan would do.  :)   A good starting combination is a good assault rifle paired with a strong shotgun (e.g. Geth Plasma Shotty).  A good sniper rifle and shotgun combination should work pretty well, too, if you’re going for distance.

Strategy:
This build basically ignores Carnage entirely and maxes out damage reduction, health, and shields to produce a very durable straight-up gunfighter.  Choose any two weapons that work for you, turn on Fortification at the start of the round, leave it on, and start shooting at the enemy.  Inferno grenades are good for taking out packs of minions and, as a Krogan, you still have a powerful heavy melee that you can use to finish off weakened opponents or isolated minions.  In a pinch, you can purge your Fortification to get enemies off you, but if it gets to that point, you’ve probably let yourself get caught too far out amidst too many enemies; this really isn’t a melee build.  You’re more of the team’s heavy fire support and backbone.  There are other builds if you want to go the melee route.

N00b Rating: (scale 1-5, 1 is easy for everybody!)

2.5. Anyone can “run and gun” — not much finesse there — but to be successful, you still need to coordinate with your team, use cover wisely, and not get overconfident.  You’re definitely one of the toughest characters out there, but you can still get swarmed and taken down pretty quickly if you’re not aware of what’s going on around you.

Warlord – by Baerdface

Build Title:
Warlord – by Baerdface

Class:
Krogan Soldier

Power Evolutions:
Fortification: Durability (4), Synergy (5), Durability (6)
Carnage: Radius (4), Incapacitate (5), Damage (6)
Inferno Grenade: N/A (had it maxed out on first roll, but didn’t find all that useful)
Krogan Berserker: Weapon Damage (4), Power Damage (5), Weapon Damage (6)
Rage: Melee Damage (4), Martial Artist (5), Fitness Expert (6)

Weapons:

Prefered shotgun is Geth Plasma shotty (any rare shotty you prefer, actually), since it has decent range. Got Carnifex with melee attachment as backup aswell. Or might use the lightest assault rifle I have as backup.  Katana is fine instead of plasma shotty, but then an assault rifle is must-have (again, if you have something rare that might work well with it, use it).

Strategy:

Build might seem silly, but I’ve never died with it on Silver, and doing fine when played carefully on Gold.  The tactic is to stick to your team and melee everything, especially stuff that gets close to them. Use carnage on groups of weaker enemies, Geth Plasma shotty on shielded ones and finish them off with melee.

Didn’t go for full survivability (durability, martial artist, fitness expert), cause 15% boost to health isn’t as much as 30% boost to nonrage melee and 30% to rage.

Noob rating: (scale 1-5, 1 is easy for everybody!)

2.5. If got enough credits to unlock enough spectre packs to get Krogan Soldier, I don’t think you’re much of a noob anymore. But anyway, it would be like 2-3, cause all you need is half a braincell to realize that you shouldn’t charge off alone. This krogan has quite a bit of HP/shields to stay alive.
