Fire Santa – by IIBrannigansLaw

Build Title: Fire Santa

Class: Batarian Soldier

Map Difficulty Rating: This build has the potential for Silver gameplay

Power Evolutions:
Ballistic Blades: (4) Damage, (5) Range, (6) Explosive Blades
Blade Armor: N/A
Inferno Grenades: (4) Radius, (5) Damage, (6) Radius & Shrapnel
Batarian Enforcer: (4) Damage & Capacity, (5) Power Damage, (6) Damage & Ammo
Fitness: (4) Durability, (5) Shield Recharge, (6) Fitness Expert

Weapons:
The Cerberus Harrier or N7 Typhoon both complete the strategy of this build, making Fire Santa dangerous at any range. In that spirit, however, any good Assault Rifle will fill that same void. I would recommend a light backup if you choose the capacity-challenged Harrier, of course, but no matter what you do, try to keep your Power Recharge Speed as close to 200% as possible so Ballistic Blades has a short cooldown (not only ensuring that it’s almost always available, but also that the occasional combo of Ballistic Blades & Heavy Melee can be repeated eternally if necessary).

Gear:
Gear Bonus: Grenade Capacity or Warfighter Package

Strategy:
Unlike his Christian counterpart, Fire Santa comes many times a year, and instead of bringing gifts to all of the children, he brings fire to all who oppose him. If ever there was a build that makes Killstreaks easy, it’s this one; the idea is to throw Inferno Grenades into piles of enemies, spawns, etc. (saving a few for skirmishes) and watch your opponents drop, helping them along with Assault Rifle fire if they somehow survive. The Radius upgrades will ensure your grenades get maximum exposure, making it highly unlikely your tosses will miss
(making successful, trans-stage grenade chucks a very real and awesome possibility). Otherwise, the right Assault Rifle will take down any mid-range targets while Ballistic Blades will act as your infinite ammo, zero weight, personal, explosive shotgun at close-range. Although bosses don’t drop as easily, the combination of fire damage from your grenades, Ballistic Blades bleed and explosive damage, and your Assault Rifle damage should do the trick with little fuss. The weakness of this build is his need to constantly collect grenades (particularly rough when playing with other grenade users) and the Batarians’ naturally low combat agility. Also, the explosion from Ballistic Blades will not trigger a Fire Explosion, so you’ll be woefully without Tech Bursts with Fire Santa. Finally, you will need to play tactfully with strangers, unless you want your team to absolutely hate you for killing everything with the Inferno Grenades you’re lobbing everywhere (even, potentially, when you’re on the other side of the map). Although I think Fire Santa would do well on Gold with a good team, I’ve never tried for lack of a combat roll. A final point: Fire Santa is especially deadly against Cerberus; a reminder that probably goes without saying.

N00b Rating:
1 - The goal of Fire Santa was to make an incredibly simple character with a very, very high success rate on Silver. Ultimately, there’s no complex approach to power cooldowns, no technique with weaponry, no Tech Bursts to coordinate, and barely any thought involved overall; the radius upgrades alone will make your grenade throws obnoxiously, unfairly accurate, so this build even fosters experimentation with your tosses. The only bit of finesse comes in the completely optional, eternal chain of Hard Melee and Ballistic Blades, which is more to spice up play than anything else. Overall, just remember that you have no combat rolls and that you have to keep a careful eye on your grenade count.

Rowdy — by Ibex_id

Build Title:
Rowdy — by Ibex_id

Class:
Batarian Soldier

Power Evolutions:

Ballistic Blades: Cone Spread (4), Range (5), Damage & Bleed (6)
Blade Armour: Durability (4), Damage returned (5), Durability (6)
Inferno Grenades: 1, 2, 3
Batarian Enforcer: Weapon damage (4), Power Damage (5)
Fitness: Durability (4), Martial Artist (5), Fitness Expert (6)

Weapons:

Primary: Reegar Carbine(melee damage & weapon damage)
Secondary: Cerberus Harrier(piercing & magazine upgrade) / Phaeston or Mattock with the same mods

Gear:

Shock Trooper Upgrade
Warfighter package
Berserker package
Omni-capacitors

Strategy:

You have to turn the Blade Armour on first. This build provides character with durability, so there’s no need for shield upgrade. I prefer running to enemies, then strike with Ballistic Blades and fire with Reegar. If there are a lot of enemies in a spot, you can help yourself with grenades(i personally throw 2 at once). Otherwise, you can hide behind a cover and fire from there by Reegar(if hostiles are close to you), or Cerberus Harrier. I don’t always use melee attack, but when i do, i usually hit enemies with the [F-F-F] series. Nevertheless, nothing stops you from using heavy melee attack which allows you to hit stronger enemies with colossal power.

N00b Rating: (scale 1-5, 1 is easy for everybody!)

2. Very easy to handle, effective against most of enemies. Reegar blows off shields and barriers, Cerberus Harrier, grenades and blades help you to manage with armour. But in very rare occasions you have to run away. Very suitable for bronze and silver.

Captain Kaboom – by PunxsatownyPhil

Build Title:
Captain Kaboom – by PunxsatownyPhil

Class:
Batarian Soldier

Power Evolutions:
Ballistic Blades: Cone spread (4), Recharge speed (5), Explosive blades (6)
Blade Armor: Durability (4), Recharge speed (5), Power recharge (6)
Inferno Grenade: (1), (2), (3)
Batarian Enforcer: Damage and capacity (4), Power damage (5)
Fitness: Durability (4), Shield recharge (5), Fitness Expert (6)

Weapons:
I reccomend the good old, reliable, vanilla, Avenger X with a magazine upgrade and the armor-piercing mod. That way, you can fight effectively at range and still have excellent cooldown on your ballistic blades.

Gear:
Warfighter package works best here, in my opinion. Grenade capacity isn’t bad either. Power bonuses are also always nice.

Strategy:
You’re going to be able to take out anything that isn’t an Atlas, Prime, or Banshee quite easily. Basically, run right up to an enemy or near a group, pump exploding razors into their faces, get into cover, get a few Avenger headshots, and repeat as soon as the cooldown is finished. When you’re only threatened by one enemy, just fire your blades and use a heavy melee while they’re staggered. This will insta-kill most weaker enemies even on silver (Haven’t tested this on gold yet, as I’m only at level 18). The spread of your blades is pretty wide, as you’ll notice when you shoot an assault trooper, turn, and see a centurion outside of your field of vision stagger and explode into a fountain of blood. You’re pretty durable, but remember to take cover. Have Blade Armor on at all times, it will save your life when a Geth Hunter melees you and gets staggered before he can finish you off. Work with teammates on the boss enemies, because you’re not very well equipped to take them down unless you can refill your grenades quickly.

N00b Rating: (scale 1-5, 1 is easy for everybody!)
3. It’s pretty average in difficulty.

Dirty Damage – by Anonymous

Build Title: Dirty Damage

Class: Batarian Soldier

Power Evolutions:
Ballistic Blades: (4) Damage, (5) Range, (6) Damage & Bleed
Blade Armor: N/A
Inferno Grenade: (4) Damage, (5) Damage, (6) Armor Damage
Batarian Enforcer: (4) Damage & Capacity, (5) Power Damage, (6) Snipers and Shotguns
Fitness: (4) Durability, (5) Martial Artist, (6) Fitness Expert

Weapons:
Kishock Harpoon Gun or the Graal Spike Thrower; anything that deals high damage. The N7 Valiant is a good alterantive too.

Gear:
Grenade Capacity or other grenade gears are recommended

Strategy:
This build capitalizes on the bleed damage available to the Batarian Soldier. This is an elite-killing build. When attacking elites, lob a grenade, fire the blades, then run for cover and start peppering them with shots. I prefer the Kishock. It does massive damage and is relatively light; also dealing 40% bleed damage for 5 seconds after the hit. The Graal is also good for its larger spread, but is not as effective against armor.
On bronze and silver, using the blades point blank will kill most weaker enemies outright; if they survive however, they will stagger backwards. This allows you to follow up with a headshot (especially effective with the Kishock). If the target survives, the Kishock should at least stagger them, leaving them vulnerable to the Batarian’s brutal Heavy Melee. This is why Martial Artist is chosen over Shield Recharge, to allow the use of the power Heavy Melee and increase its power after consistent use; this does not mean however, you can melee everything, play smartly remember. Adding a grenade to this combo is essential for stronger enemies like Geth Pyros or Ravagers. For the tougher enemies on gold, it’s best to skip the melee and follow the Kishock with more blades. They should be recharged by then, as the Kishock should give 3.43 second cool down with Kishock Harpoon Gun III; Kishock X will ensure that the power cooldown is above +100%.
I don’t spec into Blade Armor because of the power recharge penalty. The power damage bonuses also come in handy when using the inferno grenade, which deals serious damage to enemies (as much as 350 per second on armoured enemies). To give him more durability but less damage and recharge speed, you could trade off some of the points in Batarian Enforcer.
To sum up, basically anything will drop quickly and if it doesn’t, it soon will. An Inferno Grenade combined with blades does intense damage per second. It’s basically like putting another gun on the target, only they can’t shoot back. Two grenades and a single set of blades can do roughly 7500 damage over 16 seconds. This means that when you are getting chased by two Banshees and you’re the last player left, you can run from ammo crate to ammo crate and unleash fire and forget damage on them without worrying about getting caught or having their barriers recharge.

N00b Rating:
3 – This build’s combo is almost exclusively close quarters and why you have a lot of health and shields, you are without Blade Armor and the Batarian characters lack a dodge manoeuvre and have a slower running speed. You won’t be spending much time in cover as you’ll be frequently on the move with Ballistic Blades, regardless of the weapon you choose. Inferno Grenades are specifically set to deal maximum damage over maximum radius for single, boss-killing capabilities and you only have two without Grenade Capacity or Shock Trooper Upgrade.

Appearance:
A16, A16 is pretty good. Makes him look mean AND ugly.

Saguaro Tank – by Rune

Build Title:

Saguaro Tank – by Rune

Class:

Batarian Soldier

Power Evolutions:

Ballistic Blades: 1, 2, 3
Blade Armor: damage protection (4), damage returned (5), damage protection (6)
Inferno Grenade: Damage (4), Damage (5)
Batarian Enforcer: Weapon Damage (4), Headshot Damage (5), Damage & Ammo (6)
Fitness: Durability (4), Shield Recharge (5), Fitness Expert (6)

Weapons:
Primary:  Whatever you like to use best, recommend something effective at mid-range, such as a good assault rifle or the geth shotgun
recommended: geth plasma shotgun (thermal clip, damage, blade or accuracy), Mattock (scope, extented barrel)

Secondary: good assault rifle or sniper rifle
recommended: Black widow, widow, best semi-automatic sniper you have

Strategy:
The point of this set is to capitalize on the batarian soldiers good bulk and resistance to melee, while dealing good damage with weapons and grenades.  Batarian heavy melee is a bit slow to get off, the standard melee has great damage, use when you get a good chance.  Ballistic Blades is a great ability to use when up close, and has good damage even with only 3 points.  A reason to use this set over something like a krogan sentinel is the melee resist, passive ammo boost and the fact that batarian is just such a cool race. Spiky batarian for the win.

N00b Rating: (scale 1-5, 1 is easy for everybody!)

2. not a hard class to use, good bulk so you won’t be dying too easily. The difficulty comes more in using this set well.  Using grenades well and knowing when to melee or BB and when to retreat is important. Remember, you are not immune to melee, but any enemy trying to melee you will take decent damage, and will stagger for a second or so.
