Strategy:                                                                                                                             This build emphasis on synergy with tech and biotic users. You’ll be quite resistant with a nice 1238 in health and shield. I discarded the blade armor, slow power recharge, only 20% reduction if you go on power recharge at the end, a little melee bonus, but since this build is to take advantage of your powers, I prefered to go full shield/health on fitness to compensate for the lost of damage reduction (what you lose in reduction you gain it in shield and life). So basically you’re a support class that pack quite a punch. With the electric field and the slow of the net, throwing it on a Geth Prime or an Atlas makes it a walking bomber with someone spamming drain or overload, the electric field does 162.50 damages every 1.50 for 4.80 seconds over 6 meters, that means exploding tech power every 1.50 seconds over 6 meters around your target (that’s why targets like Prime, Atlas, Ravagers, Pyros and Brutes are preferable). But this is not its only usage, it’s true that it’s not as effective as the stasis but if you know how and more importantly when to use it, you can stop phantoms (stopping it for a 4.80 seconds with a dot and immobilizing it for 8.80 seconds on the floor when the net wears off is very nice). That’s true that the net is dodged really easily, that’s what make the stasis better (that and the bubble), but the net has a homing ability, so you can easily catch those phantoms under cover or a marauder behind some entrance, these cases are the ones that make the slow activation of the power useful : aim the target’s focus, shoot, quickly move your cursor to let your power take the right path to the target. The other important thing with the net is to observe what your target is doing, shoot it when your target is in cover, or finishing dodging something else, climbing, flying, jumping or making some battle animation (like buffing an ally for the Marauder), or make the opportunity yourself, you have the Geth Plasma Shotgun, most of the time the first hit stagger the target. The last thing about the net, it can be used like a mine, if you don’t hit a target, it will just get stuck on the floor or a wall/box, and if someone pass close to it, it will be caught, so always threw one on the beginning of a wave on what you judge a frequented passage. Then, now, the biotic part, shockwave really shines on the sentinel batarian, because you have some survivability you can actually go close enough to use it. It stagger ennemies, pass through walls, make tech and biotic powers explode and in adition it lifts the targets without armor/shield so an adept can make them explode. It also is a big help when running to revive someone, with your shield and health, the time bought by shockwave can often be enough to get out both of you alive (my best example is reviving someone with 1 pyro, 2 hunters and a rocket launcher from afar on gold) I don’t have much more to say, didn’t play it very often for the moment, but I like the versatility, you make high damage and can camp entire wave in gold with you GPS and spare clip mod, you can help make a lot of explosions (with this build, your recharge time is quite low, 3.50 for shockwave and 4.38 for the net with a GPS VI). You can go revive your allies without too much worries thanks to your health/shield and shockwave, you can partially replace an infiltrator for objectives for the same reasons as reviving others, and you’re well equipped for camping. But don’t play the hero, health drop fast with 3 marauders even on silver, and even if you can do some melee from time to time, let it to krogans or batarien spec for it, you’re here to make things explode and reviving your team.

Note on the falcon : I put the falcon on alternate set because of two things, its stopping fire power that will let you land the nest without any difficulty, and the radius of its explosions with ammo.
With the area dot of the net and the area ammo effect of the Falcon, each time you successfully apply an effect on some mobs, they’ll explode shortly after, I can’t really try this strategy effectively
since I only have the Falcon 1, but I really think it can work, target the big slow armored target with the net, and hammer it with the falcon.

N00b Rating:                                                                                                                          3 – I don’t think this build is really hard to use, just be cautious, learn to use your net and pay attention to who needs your help the most (to survive or to explode everything). I’m not really stuffed and I managed to be the top scorer on gold, okay I admit there was no adept or a damaged oriented infiltrator but still, this build seems to prove useful :)

Batarian Slave Master – by RODMAN COMETH

Build Title:
Batarian Slave Master – by RODMAN COMETH

Class:
Batarian Sentinel

Power Evolutions:
Blade Armor: (1), (2), (3)
Shockwave: Force & Damage (4), Reach (5), Lifting Shockwave (6)
Submission Net: Damage (4), Damage & Slow (5), Electric Field (6)
Batarian Enforcer: Damage & Capacity (4), Headshots (5)
Fitness: Durability (4), Shield Recharge (5), Fitness Expert (6)

Weapons:
Sniper Rifle: Viper X or Mantis X with Damage and Piercing Mod
Heavy Pistol: Phalanx X or Predator X with Damage and Piercing Mod

In this build you rely on your powers a lot so having a lower recharge time is key. Anything over 100% is good.

Strategy:
There are two alternate strategies for long range versus close range.

In this build you try to operate mostly at long range. The idea is to use submission net to trap the enemy then use your sniper rifle(with a headshot) to take them down quickly. Enemies with armor won’t be trapped but they will still slow down giving you a good chance of scoring and headshot and with the Piercing Mod you will do decent damage. The submission net will also damage nearby enemies making taking them down easier. The submission net is optimized for damage so if you almost kill them then just move on and the submission net will finish them off.

At close range you switch to your heavy pistol and spam shockwave as quickly as you can. Remember, shockwave can travel through cover and will lift enemies without shields or armor. This allows you to remove the weaker enemies from the fight(for a few seconds at least) and concentrate fire on the stronger enemies. Once they are dead you can mop of the low level guys. If they get back up… just shockwave them again.

Your strategy for taking down bosses is identical to the above strategies. When the boss is far away use submission net and try to stack it as much as possible(though it won’t stop them they will slow down and it will still do damage) and fire your sniper rifle during recharge. When the boss closes start spamming shockwave and unloading clips into them from your heavy pistol.

This guy is not really a “team player” though he can play nice with others. He is optimized to handle just about any threat on his own. Though works best operating behind the team. About the Blade Armor. Personally, I wouldn’t even use it. I only have three points on it because you start with one point on it and you can’t use those points on anything else. While it does off some damage protection the decrease in your recharge time really can hurt your survivability when trapped.

Also, you have to know when a situation is untenable and fall back. He has enough health to allow you to survive most situations.

N00b Rating: (scale 1-5, 1 is easy for everybody!)
4. He does take some getting used to. Knowing when to switch strategies(and weapons) is key. If you switch too late(from long range to short range) you will usually die. Once you get good with this build bronze is akin to taking candy from a baby and Silver is not very difficult either. I have yet to try this build on Gold so if you do please let me know. Also, if you use this build on Gold you may want to experiment using a stronger sniper rifle or pistol or both, just watch the recharge time.

Batarian Bully – by GordianKnot42

Build Title:
Batarian Bully – by GordianKnot42

Class:
Batarian Sentinel

Power Evolutions:
Blade Armor: Melee Damage (4), Damage Returned (5), Durability (6)
Shockwave: (1), (2), (3)
Submission Net: Damage & Capacity (4), Damage & Slow (5), Shield & Barrier (6)
Batarian Enforcer: Damage & Capacity (4), Headshots (5)
Fitness: Melee Damage (4), Melee Spree (5), Melee Synergy (6)

Weapons:
Eviscerator only, modded with the Shotgun Blade Attachment and High Caliber Barrel. The Eviscerator gives you a little bit of added range to your shotgun attacks, even though the shotgun is truly a backup weapon. It’s also light enough to give you a good recharge time. The High Caliber Barrel offsets the lack of weapon bonuses in the power loadout.

Strategy:
Nothing can beat a Krogan in full Rage mode, but this guy can come pretty close. This is a more conservative melee player, tactical melee, if you will. Your purpose here is NOT to go crazy and melee everything in sight like a Krogan; the slowness of the Batarian Sentinel’s heavy melee attack doesn’t allow you to do that. Your job is instead to utilize your powers to help control the battlefield from close up in a more team support role.

While it’s no Tech Armor, you’re going to want Blade Armor up and running at all times. Submission Net and Shockwave are used to stagger and setup your melee attacks and point-blank shotgun attacks. The goal here is to get in close enough that the enemies will attempt to melee you, at which time 75% of their attack gets thrown right back in their faces. In fact, usually during the Batarian’s slow heavy melee setup they will get a hit on you, and you’ll see them take damage before you even throw the final punch, which finishes them off. Use Shockwave to stagger if there is a group, then if you do a heavy melee you will most likely be cooled down enough by the end of it to throw another Shockwave or Net. Be aware, though, that it appears you continue to take damage during the slow heavy melee setup, so this is not advisable to do against large groups or anything tougher than standard foot soldiers.

The tactical part comes in when the tougher opponents show up. The Submission Net is akin to a poor-man’s Stasis, but it’s a Stasis that slowly eats away defenses right before your eyes. This is an excellent tool to keep Nemeses & Phantoms or cloaked Geth off your team’s backs. Net them, watch as their barriers slowly disintegrate, then do a heavy melee when there’s only health left and they’re history. You need to get in somewhat close as the Submission Net is easily dodged, but you can usually sneak up on them as they take cover around a corner and Net them at near point-blank range. (But keep a safe amount of distance from the Phantom, or she’ll rip you to shreds before you can deploy the Net.) The Net will also help slow and wear down armored opponents. (Note: Submission Net does NOT incapacitate Atlases, turrets, Pyros or Banshees.) When it’s down to a handful of regular foot soldiers (Troopers, Centurions, Husks, Cannibals, Geth Troopers), then you can get in close and alternate shotgun blasts (aiming for the head for the sweet 20% Batarian Enforcer bonus) and heavy melees to clear them out. Even the faster, regular melee attacks are effective if you’re fighting partially damaged troops.

Shockwave is there for a bit of crowd control to stagger and also to be a slightly longer range attack than the shotgun (as opposed to carrying a second weapon, which would decimate your cooldown time). Also be on the lookout for enemies being Warped or under the effects of a tech attack, as Shockwave can detonate either of those. (You could theoretically detonate your own Submission Nets, but the shorter duration of the Net and the longer cooldown as a result of the Blade Armor all but precludes that.) Shockwave is also your primary means of disposing of Guardians. Get in as close as you can, throw a Shockwave, then if you IMMEDIATELY initiate a heavy melee you should be able to get the blow in before they get their riot shield raised again. Otherwise, you can get in one or two sucker punches (normal melee hits).

I would strongly advise giving yourself an Adrenaline Module on your armor to boost your movement. Batarians are pretty slow, but the faster you can get in the enemies’ faces to subdue them and start your melee attacks the better.

N00b Rating: (scale 1-5, 1 is easy for everybody!)
4. The cornerstone of the tactical melee strategy – the Submission Net – needs to be timed and aimed very carefully. You will need to continue to aim on moving enemies as your Net deploys, and your aim has to be spot on in order to take out the deadlier enemies like the Phantom. Also, the temptation is going to be to heavy melee everything in sight (which is understandable… it’s truly awesome watching enemies’ head explode when you punch them). But you’re going to have to gauge when heavy melee is called for and when a couple of sucker punches will do the job (which will still pack a wallop given the melee-oriented power and weapon loadout).

And yet… you will have to bear in mind that you are NOT a tank. The only added durability comes with rank 6 of Blade Armor. So if you charge into a group of half a dozen troops, or charge around a corner only to find yourself face to face with a turret, you’re going to go down pretty fast on Silver. Also, like Turians & Krogans, the lack of mobility can be an issue, but this can be partially offset with the Adrenaline Module (although you still can’t dodge missiles…).

This guy plays really well on Silver playgrounds; never tried him on Gold so I’m not sure how viable he is there. You are not going to top leaderboards with this guy. You WILL get the unparalleled satisfaction of laying subdued Phantoms to waste with one hit.

The Rock – by GordianKnot42

Build Title:
The Rock – by GordianKnot42

Class:
Batarian Sentinel

Power Evolutions:
Blade Armor: Melee Damage (4), Damage Returned (5), Durability (6)
Shockwave: (1), (2), (3)
Submission Net: Damage & Capacity (4), Damage & Slow (5), Shield & Barrier (6)
Batarian Enforcer: Damage & Capacity (4), Power Damage (5)
Fitness: Melee Damage (4), Melee Spree (5), Melee Synergy (6)

Weapons:
As this is a melee-based class, recharge time isn’t quite as important. I would suggest a solid close combat weapon like the Claymore or Wraith, or a Talon pistol, scoped if you want to add a little bit of range. Add the respective melee mod to whichever weapon you choose.

Submission Net and Shockwave are situational, so the slow recharge time isn’t too much to worry about. Besides, the goal here is to get in close enough that the enemies will attempt to melee you, at which time 75% of their attack gets thrown right back in their faces. In fact, usually during the Batarian’s slow heavy melee they will get a hit on you, and you’ll see them take damage before you even throw the final punch, which finishes them off.

Even the faster, regular melee attacks are effective if you’re fighting partially damaged troops.

Shockwave is there for a bit of crowd control if needed, especially to get Cerberus Guardians to drop their riot shields for a moment for a quick melee attack (they’ll get their shields raised by the time you can pull off a heavy melee attack). In theory Shockwave could set off a tech burst on your Submission Net. The slow cooldown cycle as a result of your Blade Armor pretty much precludes that, but with coordination you could detonate biotics or tech bursts initiated by your teammates. You could easily drop this for either of the level 6 options in Batarian Enforcer and never look back.

N00b Rating: (scale 1-5, 1 is easy for everybody!)
4. The reduced cooldown period is the main weakness of this guy. As a result, the cornerstone of the tactical melee strategy – the Submission Net – needs to be carefully aimed or else you have to wait an entire recharge cycle before you get a second chance, and by then your target will probably have closed on you. Also, like Turians & Krogans, the lack of mobility can be an issue. I don’t think this is a viable character on anything higher than Silver, not unless you put some serious movement and melee mods on him. You are not going to top leaderboards with this guy. You WILL get the unparalleled satisfaction of laying subdued Phantoms to waste with one hit.
