Quarian Lookout

Build Title:
Quarian Lookout

Class:
Male Quarian Engineer

Power Evolutions:

Tactical Scan: Weapon damage (4), Movement speed (5), Area scan (6)
Incinerate: N/A
Arc grenade: Damage (4), Electrical damage (5), Armor piercing (6)
Quarian defender: Weapon damage (4), Headshots (5), Weapon damage (6)
Fitness: Durability (4), Shield recharge (5), Fitness expert (6)

Weapons/Gear
1: Medium Range Assault Rifle with scope and damage mod. Talon with clip size and damage mod. Warfighter package gear.

2: Sniper rifle that’s good against armor with damage and any other mod. Hornet smg with damage and any other mod. Grenade capacity

Strategy:

Your job is to pick a point with a nice open view of about mid range and camp there. Preferably one near an ammo dump and near your team. The bunker on fire base hydra works great.

Your tactical scan is specced so it will act as a radar around your target. A 20m radius is a huge area, so you will pick up lots of bad guys, and your team can see them too. Think of it as a team hunter vision. Spam tactical scan about every 5 or 6 seconds. This will ensure your team constantly knows where the enemy squad is. Most helpful, you can see those sneaky phantoms who flank your squad. Very helpful on firebase reactor. Use it on everyone, even common enemies. The 15% movement speed penalty allows the use of the scan on bosses to slow their pushes.

Arc grenade is mega powerful. Because your tactical scan lets you know where the enemy squad is, the level 4 radius upgrade is unnecessary as you know exactly where to throw. This allows for mega damage instead. It is specced for armor mainly to deal with geth pyros. If some pyros, hunters, phantoms, or husks sneak up on you, throw a couple grenades at your feet an get out of there. In addition, throw it on groups on enemies below your position or if your nest has been overrun and you want it back.

Incinerate has no points because it’s cool down detracts from what you should be doing: tactical scan spamming.

Quarian defender is specced towards weapon damage. Because you aren’t relying on incinerate like a lowly human engineer, most of your damage will be coming from your weapons.

Fitness is specced for survivability because if you are out of cover and use tactical scan, it will be a good while before you can get back into cover. Also, it helps you not die when enemies sneak up on you. In addition, with the extra durability you can do assaults of necessary and can complete the hack or escort missions without being slaughtered.

Keep close to ammo boxes to refill grenades. Feel free to play a bit more aggressive when you have grenades, but when you run out, play conservatively as your dps goes down a lot when you’re out of them. Stick close to your team, as tactical scanning enemies acts as a focuser for your squad’s fire. It’s the closest thing you can get to commanding your squad without a mic.

TL;DR: Camp, spam tactical scan, don’t be a hero.

N00b Rating: (scale 1-5, 1 is easy for everybody!)

2. By the time you get MQE you will be way past this point. Also, you have to remember to activate tactical scan every few seconds. Remember, it’s not Quarian hero, it’s Quarian lookout. Live to fight another day soldier.

The Flotilla Marine – by Kodiak393

Build Title: The Flotilla Marine

Class: Male Quarian Engineer

Map Difficulty Rating: This build has the potential for Gold gameplay

Power Evolutions:
Tactical Scan: (4) Power Damage, (5) Movement Speed, (6) Damage
Incinerate: N/A
Arc Grenade: (4) Damage, (5) Electrical Damage*, (6) Armor-Piercing
Quarian Defender: (4) Weapon Damage, (5) Power Damage, (6) Weapon Damage
Fitness: (4) Durability, (5) Shield Recharge, (6) Fitness Expert

*If playing on a higher difficulty alongside other players with Tech abilities, then taking the Electrical Damage modification for #5 will be preferable in order to create more tech explosions. If playing either on lower difficulties or with teammates not playing tech classes (or if, like me, the player simply prefers not to have to run to an ammo box as often), then upgrading Max Grenades will be preferable.

Weapons:
The Cerberus Harrier with Extended Barrel and Extended Magazine and the M-92 Mantis with High Velocity Barrel and Piercing Mod.
The Harrier is, in my opinion, the best all-around assault rifle in multiplayer. It does incredible damage and has great accuracy and fire rate. Its two main drawbacks, its weight and ammo capacity, are offset by the facts that this class already relies heavily on ammo boxes and doesn’t rely on powers with cooldowns. The Harrier is also one of the few fully automatic weapons that benefits from the extended barrel, due to its aforementioned damage and rate of fire. I recommend sticking with the Piercing mod to deal with Guardian shields; however, it is a matter of personal preference when deciding between the two. The Magazine Upgrade is entirely non-negotiable.
As far as a secondary weapon is concerned, just about any high-powered, highly accurate weapon will do, such as the Paladin or Widow. If using a pistol, utilize the Scope and Barrel Extension mods. I prefer using the Mantis over the Widow due to the fact that I make extensive, almost excessive use of Tactical Scan, even scanning such targets as Assault Troopers or Cannibals, and the Widow is simply too heavy for my playstyle.

Gear:
Warfighter Package, Increases Assault Rifle damage and Grenade Capacity. One can make an argument for gear that increases Sniper Rifle or Pistol damage, but die to this build’s reliance on grenades and the added Assault Rifle damage bonus of this gear mod, I exclusively use the Warfighter Package. Use Assault Rifle Rail Amps, Cyclonic Modulators and ammo types to compliment your enemies (or Phasic if you focus on using your sniper).

Strategy:
Play this class like you would a grenade-specced soldier; unleash suppressive fire with your assault rifle or pick off key targets with your sniper rifle (preferably from cover), and unload your grenades on heavies (Atlases, Phantoms, Dragoons, Primes, Pyros, Banshees, Brutes, Ravagers, Scions, Praetorians) or large groups. The Arc grenade has a much greater blast radius than most grenades, as well as the fact that its explosion travels through most walls or barricades, meaning that haphazardly chucking grenades all over the map will tend to earn some kills, but is still discouraged as your grenades are your primary source of damage against heavies and you don’t want to run out of grenades only to find yourself face to face with an Atlas guarding the ammo box. Due to the Arc grenade’s already considerable amount of damage against shields, I chose the Armor-Piercing evolution, allowing the Quarian Marine to easily dispatch Atlases, Brutes, Ravagers, or Geth single-handedly.
As a side note, the Arc grenade will not penetrate a Guardian’s shield, it will only stagger them. Therefore, I stick with the piercing mod on my Harrier so that I don’t need to waste grenades.
The main difference between this class and a Soldier is that its damage boosting ability (Tactical Scan, rather than Adrenaline Rush or Marksman) affects a single target but benefits the entire team. As soon as you spot a heavy on approach, scan it immediately. This will slow it down, making such enemies as Brutes and Phantoms significantly less of a threat, as well as cause its defenses to plummet under coordinated team assaults.

N00b Rating:
3 – Once the player learns how to make effective use of their grenades and tactical scan, no enemy is too tough.

Appearance:
I have yet to unlock any appearance upgrades for either of my Male Quarians, so I cannot offer any personal suggestions; however, just about any color scheme will do. As made evident by Kal’Reegar’s and Admiral Zaal’Koris’ pink and white suits in Mass Effect 2, male Quarians have been known to wear rather flamboyant attire :P

Hurricane Crowd Control

Build Title:
Hurricane Crowd Control

Class:
Quarian Male engineer

Power Evolutions:

Tactical Scan: Power Damage (4)

Incinerate: Damage (4), Burning Damage (5), Armor Damage (6)

Arc Grenade: Damage (4), Electrical Damage (5), Shield Overload (6)

Quarian Defender: Damage & Capacity (4), Power Damage (5), Weapon Damage (6)

Fitness: Durability (4)

Weapons:
The N7 Hurricane is the bread of your build, providing ridiculous damage output and a high rate of fire in order to affect as many enemies with Disruptor Rounds as possible. SMG Recoil System helps deal with the high recoil accompanying the N7 Hurricane, and an SMG Magazine Upgrade allows you to churn out more bullets against tougher enemies such as Brutes and Banshees. No other weapon is necessary.

Gear:
Your gear bonus could either focus on increasing your grenade capacity or the effectiveness of the N7 Hurricane. I find the Barrage Upgrade works quite well to control the Hurricane and keep it churning out bullets. Your ammo bonus should be Disruptor Rounds at all times. The other bonuses aren’t as important.

Strategy:

The powers are the butter to the bread that is the N7 Hurricane in your build. Churn out as many bullets as possible against tight groups of enemies, then throw in an Arc Grenade or two to trigger multiple Tech Bursts and cause havoc. Tougher enemies like Ravagers, Phantoms, and Geth Primes should be scanned first to increase damage dealt against them. Enemies with armor should be Incinerated, and then finished with a flurry of Hurricane fire. Stay away from melee if possible.

N00b Rating: (scale 1-5, 1 is easy for everybody!)
3, the Quarian Male Engineer is ineffective in his early levels but once you obtain the right gear and weaponry, you can cause more pain than even the idolised Geth Infiltrator.

Appearance: I don’t have specifics, but I imagine a Darth Vader look to accompany the horror the enemies feel as they see your eyes fixated on them is beautiful.

Quarian Mechanic – by Calibr886

Build Title: Quarian Mechanic – by Calibr886\

Class: Quarian Male Engineer

Power Evolutions:
Tactical Scan: Weapon Damage (4), Headshots (5), Damage (6)
Incinerate: (1), (2), (3)
Arc Grenade: Damage (4), Max Grenades (5), Shield Overload (6)
Quarian Defender: Weapon Damage (4), Headshots (5), Weapon Damage (6)
Fitness: Durability (4), Shield Recharge (5)

Weapons:                                                                                                                         Load out 1:                                                                                                                                - M-8 Avenger X (Mag Upgrade + Piercing Mod)                                                                     - M-25 Hornet X (Mag Upgrade + Ultralight Materials/Heat Sin                                         Load out 2:
- M-90 Indra X (Spare Thermal Clip + Piercing Mod)                                                        Load out 3:
- M-8 Avenger X (Mag Upgrade + Precision Scope/Stability Dampener)
- M-6 Carnifex X (Piercing Mod + High-Caliber Barrel/Mag Upgrade)

Gear: This build has a more difficult time with Armor than shields, so Armor-Piercing/Incendiary/Warp ammo is recommended to help you deal with armored opponents more easily.
Your armor bonus will depend on your play style: if you have trouble dying on higher difficulty settings, you may want a shield boost, otherwise it is recommended to pack a stabilization module to aid in getting headshots.
Weapon bonuses all depend on the weapon load out you are currently using – match that with your preferred load out.
Ideally you want your gear bonus to either give you an edge on your weapon damage depending on your load out  or give you more grenades. I tend to like the grenade package because I abuse Arc Grenade, although the warfighter package is extremely useful when using an assault rifle.

Strategy: This build is called the “Quarian Mechanic” because it is designed to troubleshoot and deal with problem opponents (Phantom, Atlas, Geth Prime, etc.). Paint the target with your Tactical Scan, using Arc Grenade to bypass its shields, then shoot the hell out of it. On lower difficulties, abuse Arc Grenade for crowd control. On higher difficulties, use Arc Grenades as a utility to bypass shields and use Incinerate to stun enemies, giving you a chance to light them up with your weapons. Use Tactical Scan generously, as it has a lightning fast recharge speed, to up your weapon damage. This is especially useful on troublesome mid-level enemies, like Geth Pyros and Centurions. Finally, you can use Arc Grenade as a Panic Button if enemies begin to overwhelm you. You may not win the points standings all the time, but you will be a vital utility on any team to counter virtually any threat opposing you.

N00b Rating: 3. While this build may not be the squishiest character (i.e. Geth Infiltrator/Drell anything), it is still on the low end of health and shields. Be wary on higher difficulties that if you get caught out in the open, it doesn’t take much to put you down. This build has utility for just about anything, however, and is very balanced. You have answers to virtually every threat, and the hardest part about learning this build may very well be unlocking the weapons you want to use for it

Quarian Electrician – by The GreenFalcon13

Build Title:
Quarian Electrician – by The GreenFalcon13

Class:
Male Quarian Engineer

Power Evolutions:
Tactical Scan: Power Damage (4), Movement Speed (5), Area Scan (6)
Incinerate: Damage (4), Burning Damage (5), Armor Damage (6)
Arc Grenade: Damage (4), Max Grenade (5), Armor Damage (6)
Quarian Defender: Damage & Capacity (4)
Fitness: Durability (4)

Weapons:
Reegar Carbine
Arc pistol (Optional)

Strategy:
Meet the Quarian Electrician! As the name states, the whole class is based off an Electric theme. Here is the breakdown of the engineer’s more important powers:

The Tactical Scan:
Remember that you can scan without exposing yourself from cover!

Rank 4 Power Damage is to increase Incinerates usefulness as well as help your team’s power damage (especially on gold where tech bursts and biotic combos run rampant). With the Rank 5 Movement Speed, you will be slowing fast moving characters like Phantoms and Banshees. Phantoms and Geth Hunter’s cloaks will be rendered useless. Scan your biggest threat then proceed to melt it with Incinerate and the Regeer (Or plan accordingly with your TEAM!). Rinse and Repeat. Rank 6 Area Scan Is very useful in temporality reveling hidden enemies, once again, helping you plan accordingly. Another good use is randomly using it when surrounded by smoke allowing you to see straight through that pesky screen.

(Note) It’s worth mentioning that scanning a Cerberus Turret or Reaper Ravenger, as there both long range killers, is very important after taking out key hostiles because knowing there location is very important.

Incinerate:
Not much needs to be said here It’s meant to hit hard. You could switch Rank 5 Burning Damage for Recharge Speed, if your weapons are not a high enough level.

Arc Grenade:
The coolest grenade in the game. Since its an EMP grenade its already does massive damage to shields/barriers. (Which is feel aren’t that hard to take out anyway). So for Rank 6 I went for armor damage. Of course, you can instead, further its shield/barrier disrupting powers and chose Shield/Barrier damage. It also has a massive base 8.5 radius and does a good amount of damage on regular health bars. Tossing two into a group will usually kill the lot. On gold, all 3 might be necessary. (Always refill these! Know where your ammo crates are). You also have the potential of setting off Fire Explosions with Incinerate+Arc Grenade, but the Radius of the Arc Grenade overshadows this.

Weapons/Passive skills:
Now let’s talk about these and the weapons. Since the Reegar Carbine will be your main gun its extremely close quarters. Rank 4 Fitness, durability is for this reason. Adding a little health doesn’t hurt. For gear/equipment you’re going to want shield recharge/cyclonic modulator/ or power amplifier. Now to make up for the fact that you can only kill stuff with the Reegar within a little over the melee range, I added the handy Arc Pistol. This is just to stick with the electric theme. Honestly, a charged shot to the head does intense damage. I feel the gun is like a cross between Phalanx and the Carnifex. Of course, you can have any weapon combo that works for you, but using this weapon combo is quite fun. For the Arc pistol, I put the barrel attachment and the scope. The Reegar gets the only attachments it should get, ammo capacity and the under barrel.

Now go out there and shock the hell outta everything! Literally!

N00b Rating: (scale 1-5, 1 is easy for everybody!)
2. Simple to play and very fun if played smartly. Use Tactical Scan as often as you can! You can be both support and a killing machine. Just know when to switch your roles and don’t go “Full Rambo”, you’re not a Blood-lusting Vorcha.
