Asari Glass Cannon – by banthracis

Build Title:

Asari Glass Cannon – by banthracis

Class:

Asari Adept

Power Evolutions:

Stasis: strength (4), recharge speed (5), bubble (6)
Warp: detonate (4), exposure (5), recharge (6)
Throw: force (4), detonate (5), force (6)
Asari Justicar: damage and capacity (4), damage (5), Pistols*(6)
Fitness: (1), (2), (3)*

* if you have a high level carnifex or paladin (190% or more cooldown) forget pistols and just grab 3 ranks of fitness.

Weapons:

Carnifex or Paladin if you have them. If not, any heavy pistol that will keep you over 180% recharge speed. Dmg + scope mods.

Strategy:

Designed mainly for gold. Strategy is to just cause detonations non stop. For non-armored targets, stasis bubble throw/warp detonate, for armored, warp into throw detonate.
Stasis strength over duration as I’ve found this to be more useful. Better chance of having stasis affect still around for detonates, rather than target having fallen over by time CD is up.
For warp, recharge over pierce since warp is just to setup explosions and is only up for ~2 seconds anyway.

During power CD if you don’t need to hide, you can do 2-3 headshots to remove protection before a detonate.

Build works well regardless of enemy type.

N00b Rating: (scale 1-5, 1 is easy for everybody!)

4. Takes a bit of practice getting used to the power, hide playstyle and having very little HP/barriers. Also need a higher level of carnifex or Paladin for this build to really shine, but once you get to the point of biotic explosions every 2 seconds, it’s worth it.

  1. I realize many of the posts are a little dated here, but I think it’s worth having noted that the Acolyte pistol is a great tool for biotic users. I don’t often pick another pistol because it destroys a Phantom’s shield in 1 shot on silvers and 2 on golds; Banshees, Praetoreans, Collector Captains, and Atlases are no more resistant to it for their shields and barriers. With the damage and capacity mods, it becomes a very companionable weapon. Oh and the most important part, its low weight keeps you at 200% recharge speed. Hope this was helpful :-)

  2. While it does work for the warp/throw explosion combos, stasis, on the other hand, has too far long a cooldown to use effectively… especially if you’ve got Charge Happy vanguards in your group.

    • Yeah, but stasis is really the only effective weapon against phantoms, and now with the addition of the Collector faction, stasis proves invaluable against troopers and captains.

Awesome, but I prefer Pierce on Warp. Much more damage vs. Armor. (Amazingly great debuff, and far more useful for the entire team, and the higher you increase Power Recharge cooldown bonuses, the less effectively they stack in the end.)
On Stasis, I also prefer Rank 5 30% Chance for no cooldown. Insta-sposions on occasion can really help, and as I said, if you really get the Recharge Speed bonuses up there, they become rather ineffective, somewhat redundant.
Prefered weapon is a light SMG for shields, Hornet and Hurricane are hands-down the best, extremely light for recharge speed, and high DPS (Easily higher than any other SMG according to game files). The only AR’s which can match or beat the Hornet’s or the Hurricane’s DPS are heavy (Revenant, Mattock (If you can hit the trigger 7.5 times per second), Harrier, Saber, etc.).
Last: Okay, on non-armored enemies, you can cast Stasis > Warp > Throw and get 2 Biotic Combos for 3 moves. B/C as Warp detonates Stasis, it puts a lasting effect on that sets up another. Same thing if you Warp an enemy trying to BC it and some jerk teammate overloads/energy drains it, you can then Throw > Throw, and get a Tech Burst, and the second will activate the Biotic Combo you INTENDED to activate. (I recently learned this, hope you find the info useful).

  4. How did you get this build? I’m level 20 and I do not have the option to switch between Pistols or Fitness (3) because I have only 3 points left (which I’m forced to put into Fitness).

I’ve tried using the class build calculator located on this site, but I end up with -3 points as well.

I play on Xbox, can anyone help me out? Is there a more appropriate way of distributing the points?

If you max out 4 powers (achieve the highest rank) then you will have 0 points left over. If you don’t spend your last 6 points maxing out a power (pistol weight reduction in this case) you can use those last 6 points to achieve rank 3 of your 5th power. I’m not sure why you have only 3 points left. Are you sure you’re level 20? I have used this build myself…

It’s either-or, not both. You EITHER put 3 ranks (6 points) Into fitness, or the 6th rank (6 points) into Pistols, with a Carnifex X that Pistol Rank 6 becomes rather useless, esp. if you have Damage & Capacity, as it should mask the weight and give a full 200% Power Recharge Speed Bonus.

why bubble? why not the extra damage so when you biotic detonate it does 50% more damage?

Because, you can’t set traps with the average Stasis, Bubble allows versatility AND crowd control. You can stasis multiple enemies, and enemies that are being utter asjiodfaskjkdf’s can be walked into Stasis bubble. Bubble can truly expose guardians whereas throw and warp cannot (They can only make them vulnerable to weapon damage. You need a teammate to distract them to get throw or warp on a guardian (their back needs to be to you)). Additionally, I think phantom’s gauntlet can block stasis like it can block Warp and Throw and BC’s, but stasis bubble catches one every time (assuming you haven’t done it too much already).

Thanks very much for uploading this build.
But I have a question if I may:- I’ve always been a little confused about the power evolution choices for Warp, especially for rank 5 and rank 6. I’ve always gone with rank 5 damage and rank 6 pierce over what’s suggested here. While I understand why rank 6 should be recharge speed (for nearly continuous explosions), how does the 15% increase in power damage for the rank 5 choice work?
Does that include the biotic explosions? So does combining a 50% extra explosion Warp, and a 50% extra explosion Throw, with the 15% extra power damage of the rank 5 Warp choice, knock it up to 115% extra explosion damage, and then culmulatively higher like 130% or 132.25% and so on?
And I’ve almost always instinctively maxed out Fitness on the Asari to accomodate for potentially laggy connections (or my poor reaction times), so is a loss of roughly 40% extra shields and health, and decreased shield recharge speed worth the trade-off for a maxed out Throw? Especially when I typically choose to play “super-support” with the Asari Adept, and simply prime all targets for others to detonate.
    Thanks very much.

Biotic Detonations are only affected by 2 things, as far as I know:
Skills that specifically increase the damage of detonations (like you mentioned) and the rank of the two powers used to cause the detonation. i.e. 2 powers at rank 6 will do more damage on detonation than 1 at 5 and 1 at 6.

That is why it is so important to have both Warp & Throw at 6, for this build. You’re going for maximum damage here.

I love this build! Yes we adepts are squishy but its definitely worth the insane damage an Asari can throw out. I have learned that hiding and and “being the best dancer in the world” has been detrimental to survival . I am always welcomed into gold runs and am usually 1st in points. Thanks for the build!

Too squishy, less ranks in warp would be better.

Squishy is the name of the game with adepts. Biotic explosion damage is based off of the level of both powers triggering it, so lowering the warp level significantly reduces your net damage output. Even if you do drop 1 level of warp, you only gain 15% health and shields, and end up with 2 points with nothing to spend them on.
